Vicki C. Grant, PhD, MSW

Vicki C. Grant, PhD, MSW is Vice President of the Southern Institute on Children and Families and is a founding partner in the newly established firm, Grant & Ravenell Process Management Group. She is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified by the George Group. Dr. Grant has held leadership positions in three national programs supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She served as National Program Director for RWJF’s Supporting Families after Welfare Reform initiative and as Deputy Director for RWJF’s Covering Kids and Covering Kids & Families initiatives. She served as the Director of Policy and Research for the Southern Institute and for Sarah Shuptrine and Associates. Before joining Sarah Shuptrine and Associates, Dr. Grant served on South Carolina Governor Richard W. Riley’s health and human services staff as Deputy Director for Budget, Policy Analysis and Special Projects.

In addition, Dr. Grant’s work at the Southern Institute includes directing process improvement learning collaboratives within the states of Louisiana and California, and four national process improvement learning collaboratives, leading the process improvement component in South Carolina’s Child Protective Services program, and advising on a project to improve the food stamps eligibility application and recertification processes in three county offices. She has worked with 96 state and county teams across 30 states to improve eligibility operations.

In 1985 Dr. Grant was awarded a Pew Doctoral Fellowship in Health Policy by the Florence Heller Graduate School at Brandeis University. In 1992 she received her Doctor of Health and Social Policy from Brandeis University. Dr. Grant received a Masters in Social Work from the University of South Carolina in 1979.
